Saalbach ski hotels and holiday packages

So tell me about it...

Saalbach Hinterglemm offers one of the best integrated ski areas in Europe, with over 200km of trails fully lift-linked so that you can easily travel in either direction around the 'Skicircus'. Set in the province of Salzburgerland, this magnificent ski area is renowned for its excellent range of pistes and efficient lift system, connecting Saalbach to Hinterglemm and Leogang.. Saalbach itself is a superb ski resort with an attractive village centre and a lively, traditional atmosphere.

Intermediates will enjoy the vast ski area the most: with numerous access points to the skiing spread along the valley, including lifts from the village centres, it's extremely easy to get up and around. The north side of the valley is especially popular. Experts head for the Schattberg X-press lift or the gondola to the north-facing Zwölferkogel which has a three kilometer black mogul descent back down beneath the lift. Otherwise they can strike out in to the 100km of off-piste terrain in the company of a local guide.

The attractive twin villages of Saalbach and Hinterglemm boast a vast interconnecting ski circus within the picturesque Glemm valley. The mountains are dotted with picturesque huts and the ski area has an excellent snow record. Nursery slopes are right in the centre of both villages and the area is perfect for budding snowboarders with two parks with half pipes. Saalbach is the larger more cosmopolitan of the two with a charming centre with stylish shops and cafés.

Entertainment

A wonderful area with lots to do, good non-ski facilities and lively après ski. Lots of bars and pubs covering the full spectrum from traditional to nightclub contemporary. Both villages are typically Austrian. Saalbach for glamour, Hinterland for charm. No less than 40 cosy Ski cabins, snow-bars, pubs and party-clubs invite you for enjoying, flirting, dancing and having fun. The reputation of Saalbach Hinterglemm as an Après-Ski Top destination finds international audition. Both resorts enjoy traditional Austrian après ski, starting up on the slopes at bars such as the "Hinterhagalm" in Saalbach and the "Goastall" in Hinterglemm, and continuing in the village ice-bars.

Gourmet & nightlife

Most of the restaurants are based in the resort's many hotels and serve local fayre. The Alpenhotel has a number of bars, restaurants and dancing, dining options include 'Pipamex' which serves Mexican specialities. For pizza, The Wallner is a popular choice and carnivores flock to Peter's Restaurant, also in Saalbach. The Bäckstättstall is arguably the best restaurant in Saalbach, in Hinterglemm it's the Heurigenstube. The local 'Pinzgauer' specialities are home-made in the resort and are particularly popular in the mountain huts.

Extras

There is a sports centre in Hinterglemm which includes swimming pool, sauna, solarium and tennis hall, the night skiing area is also here. In Saalbach there is bowling, ice skating, an art gallery, local museum, ski museum and the chance of excursions to Salzburg.
